How are cracked heels formed?

Dry, lumpy or chapped skin on the feet is quite common in many people. The foot has fewer oil glands than other areas of the body.

Dead cells on the skin surface naturally age and new cells replace them. When you do not eliminate the accumulation of dead skin cells, they can form thick, flaky patches of skin on the feet.

Over time, dry areas are thicker and cracked, especially in the heel. Cracked heels make the feet more susceptible to infection and make walking difficult and uncomfortable.
